While some argue that this demographic shift poses significant challenges for authorities, others believe that an aging society brings certain advantages. This essay will discuss both sides and argue that, despite some benefits, the disadvantages are more substantial.
On the one hand, there are several clear benefits to having a larger proportion of elderly citizens. Older people possess a wealth of knowledge and experience that can be invaluable to society. For instance, they often act as mentors in the workplace or provide wise guidance to younger generations within families. Furthermore, many grandparents play a crucial role in childcare, allowing their adult children to pursue careers while ensuring their grandchildren are well-cared for. Therefore, in order to reduce a financial burden on governments, the problem needs to be addressed. In addition, the number of elderly people living in rural areas has been increasing, which can result in decreasing or eliminating rural areas. This is because younger generation now tend to move to urban areas. That is why, government need to cultivate such rural areas. On the other hand, there is also benefit of the trend.
